Enduro world series rider
James Shirley is a mountain biker from Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. He is a qualified Master of Mechanical Engineering but decided after graduating that travelling the world and riding bikes was probably more fun.
''Mountain biking is freedom for me. Just an awesome day on a trail bike and I love it!''
He is racing professional Enduro mountain biking and for most of the races in Europe he goes over there with his van. In between the races you can find James hanging out somewhere cool in the Alps doing the Vanlife thing. It’s a simple life but that’s what he likes about it.
What does 'part of your ride' mean to you?
BBB Cycling products literally play a part in every ride I do. They have my needs catered for from head to toe as well as making various handy products for my bike. They sometimes go unnoticed - such as my forever reliable brake pads - but their quality, function and performance are never forgotten. I believe that BBB Cycling should be a part of everyone’s ride.
What are your cycling goals?
I want to keep improving myself to be fitter, stronger and faster than before. I take a lot of satisfaction from seeing my progress but the rate of change at world level is insane. With competition being so high it’s difficult to predict results. You just have to give it your all. Another big goal is to create more fun videos with my long-time riding friend Liam Moynihan. We want to push our media coverage and capture the fun that we have whilst doing what we do. So, let’s let the good times continue!
