An A for BBB05 Oct. 2015
And the winner is - Swat
Thanks to its clever design the new Swat is chosen as Best on Test in the British Cycling Plus magazine. In a comparative test, the Swat beats its competition on the long battery life and the design of the beam.
The effective beam pattern allows you to ride as fast as with any other light on test, according to Cycling Plus. The beam pattern shines just in front of your wheel and the bigger wider beam shines far in front of you. It lets you see very clear what you can expect on your way.
As Cycling Plus discovered, the design of the Swat makes sure there isnt any light lost at the top or sides of the light. Rather than throwing light all over the place, it has a defined, evenly bright spread. This way almost nothing of the power is lost and it allows you to see clearly with a light of 120 lumen. Product developer at BBB Cycling, Sebastiaan Bowier, explains the thought behind the Swat: During the development of this light, we took a good look at the balance between the power of the led and the battery life. The led used in the Swat could easily produce more power, but that would lead to a shorter battery life. By slightly decreasing the led output, we secured a long battery life and a good solid beam output.
The cut-off top of the beam makes sure forthcoming traffic wont be blinded by your beam. So safer for you and other road users! The verdict of Cycling Plus: The result is a long runtime, just enough reach and low-level spread, and nothing wasted. An A for BBB.
