Our extensive range of cycling glasses contains glasses for every cyclist. Most of these glasses come with three interchangeable lenses. These different lenses can be used for different weather conditions. The glasses come with a Smoke lens (or MLC lens), a yellow lens, and a clear lens.

Smoke lenses decrease the blinding effect of the sun. This type of lenses can best be used in bright light conditions to protect your eyes against the sun (cat.3). The yellow lens is specifically designed for low-light situations. The yellow hue alters light and contrast to improve vision, even in foggy conditions (cat.1). A clear lens is perfect for low-light conditions when you want to keep true color perception. With a light transmission of 80% - 92% (cat.0).

There are three different lens exchange systems throughout our range of cycling glasses. This blog shows you the different lens exchange systems together with a clear instruction on how to change lenses on all of them.

1. Easy-Change system

Our Easy-change system is uniquely developed by us and is used in the Fuse, Avenger, and the Commander glasses. Below, we will explain in three simple steps how you can change the lenses on these glasses. Follow the steps and illustrations carefully and you are ready to go on your next ride within seconds!

Step 1

To remove the lens, push on the middle part of the lens to detach it from the upper frame.

Step 2

Pull the lens downwards to separate the lens from the frame completely.

Step 3

As you can see, the nosepiece is still attached to the lens. To take this off, simply squeeze on side of the nosepiece towards the middle and pull it downwards. The nosepiece will unhook itself and can be taken out.

And put it back together..

Now that your glasses is completely taken apart, you can grab the lens you want to use and repeat the steps above in reverse to make your glasses ready for your next ride. Make sure the lens is hooked correctly back into the frame both on the sides and in the middle. Once you become more comfortable with changing your lenses it is only going to be easier to quickly change your lenses according to the weather.

2. Quick-Snap system

Our Quick-Snap system is used on our frameless glasses like the Fullview and the Fullview HC, Below, we will explain in three simple steps how you can change the lenses on these glasses. Follow the steps and illustrations carefully and you are ready to go on your next ride within seconds!

Step 1

While holding the lens carefully, pull the frame away from the lens in a rearwards, slightly rotating motion. The temple will click off the lens and can be put aside.

Step 2

Repeat step 1 with the other side. Now, both temples are detached from the lens and can be put aside.

Step 3

As you can see, the nosepiece is still attached to the lens. To take this off, simply squeeze on side of the nosepiece towards the middle and pull it downwards. The nosepiece will unhook itself and can be taken out.

And put it back together..

3. Magnet system

The Magnet system is used on our Impulse model and all it's itterations (e.g. Impulse Reader, Impulse PH) and works through the use of magnets. Below, we will explain in three simple steps how you can change the lenses on these glasses. Follow the steps and illustrations carefully and you are ready to go on your next ride within seconds!

Step 1

Fold the glasses to unlock the safety stop. The tabs that stick out a bit, with our BBB Cycling logo are the lens magnet systems.

Step 2

Push the BBB Cycling logo and the little magnet inside will come off. This will release the magnet system.

Step 3

Now that the magnet is detached, the lens is free to be taken out of the frame. Repeat the process for the other lens.

And put it back together..

Now that your lenses are completely detached from your frame, you can follow the same steps in reverse to put your glasses back together with the lenses you need for your next ride. Make sure after placing the lenses back into the frame, the magnet will snap back into place with the lens locked in. Once you become more comfortable with changing your lenses we advice you to try and not touch the surface of the lens itself too much. It will leave finger prints on the lens that you have to clean later. By touching only the edges of the lens you will keep your lens clean and avoid any scratches.

Conclusion

By being able to change your lenses you are optimally equiped for every weather condition. After reading this blog, and going through the steps you are now able to change your lenses without any hassle. So look at the weather forecast, make sure you got the right lens in your glasses and you are ready for your next ride!
